A potpourri of color on the Severn River

In 2020, our family returned to the United States following deployment overseas; our current duty station is in Virginia Beach, VA. Both my wife and I were born in Maryland (outside of Annapolis and in Cambridge, respectively), and we’re glad to be located just a few hours from our hometowns.

Soon after arriving, we visited the department store on base to shop for new clothing for ourselves and our children. In particular, my wife and I were drawn to the large selection of nautically themed and timeless, preppy styles. Yet so much of the merchandise looked exactly the same; many of the T-shirts appeared faded and unfinished, and featured graphics of locations I’d never heard of. Upon further examination, I realized that the styles were not even printed in the United States of America. I knew I could create a better, more quality-focused collection.

That night, I started researching domestic manufacturers, ecommerce platforms and nautical fashion brands, as well as local design/printing businesses and domestic apparel manufacturers. The pieces were falling into place, but I didn’t want just another beachy T-shirt brand without a purpose—which is how the Coastal Tide Clothing Company got its start.

I’m a proud Navy spouse; my wife goes to work every day to protect me, our family, this country and our freedom. Coastal Tide Clothing offers American-designed, locally produced apparel that helps the military. While creating jobs in our community, we also donate a portion of proceeds to the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society and other military charitable organizations. We’re confident that you’ll enjoy wearing our collection as much as we enjoy creating it and giving back.
